For a short window each spring, something really special happens - fields burst into color, the air feels softer, and everything slows down just enough to soak it in. Tulip season is fleeting, weather-dependent, and honestly.. a little magical.
This year, I'm offering a very limited number of sessions at a local tulip farm - and if you've ever dreamed of photos that feel like they belong in a storybook, this is your moment.
Why Tulip Sessions Are So Limited
Tulips don't follow our schedules - they bloom when they're ready, and they fade quickly. Add in Michigan weather (wind, rain, surprise cold snaps), and we're working within a very small and unpredictable window.
That means:
- Dates are flexible and may shift based on bloom + weather
- Sessions are limited to just a handful of days based on the DeBucks flower schedule for that year
- Booking early is essential if you want a spot
Who These Sessions Are Perfect For
Families
If you love candid, connected moments, this is for you. Kids can explore, pick a flower, twirl in the rows... it's less about posing and more about being together.
Children
There is something about tulip fields that feels straight out of a childhood dream. The colors, the space to wander- it creates the sweetest, most natural moments.
Graduating Seniors
If you want something unique and full of personality, this setting is stunning. Soft, colorful, and a little whimsical - perfect for celebrating this season of change.
The Do's & Don'ts of Tulip Field Sessions
DO:
- Embrace movement (walking, spinning, holding hands)
- Arrive ready and on time (light changes quickly!)
- Trust the process - these sessions are meant to feel natural, not stiff
- Be flexible with scheduling if weather shifts
DON'T:
- Expect perfectly posed, still moments (this isn't a studio session)
- Wear busy patterns or neon colors (they compete with the flowers)
- Arrive stressed - these sessions work best when you lean into the experience
- Pick or damage flowers unless you've purchased them
What to Wear (This Matters More Than You Think)
The goal is to complement the tulips, not compete with them.
Best choices:
- Soft neutrals (cream, beige, light gray)
- Muted pastels (dusty blue, sage, blush pink)
- Light textures (linen, cotton, flowy fabrics)
- Simple, timeless pieces
For families:
Coordinate, don't match. Think of your outfits as a palette - not uniforms.
Avoid:
- Bright red (it blends into the tulips too much)
- Neon tones
- Loud prints or logos
- Heavy, dark colors that feel out of season
A Few Final Notes
These sessions are less about perfection and more about feeling. Wind in your hair, kids running between rows, laughter you didn't plan - that's the magic we're after.
If that speaks to you, I'd love to create something beautiful together.
