There is something special about the photographs we return to years later. The way your little one reached for your hand, the quiet anticipation of welcoming a new baby, the laughter that comes so naturally when your family is together, or the realization that your high school senior is growing into the person they are becoming. These moments deserve to be remembered, and at Rooted Vision Photography, I believe the experience of preserving them should feel just as meaningful as the photographs themselves.

But I also understand that preparing for a photography session can come with questions. What should we wear? How do we coordinate outfits without everyone looking exactly alike? What should we expect during our session? And if you are a parent trying to coordinate schedules, get everyone dressed, and make sure your teenager actually wants to participate, a little guidance can go a long way!

That is why I created my new Before Your Session webpage for families throughout Canton, Plymouth, Livonia, Northville, Ann Arbor, and the surrounding Southeast Michigan communities. My goal is to make preparing for your photography session feel less overwhelming and give you a place to find helpful information before we meet.

Photography Guides for Every Season of Life

Every chapter of life brings its own kind of beauty, and the preparation for each one looks a little different. Whether you are expecting a baby, planning updated family portraits, or preparing to celebrate your high school senior, I have created dedicated session guides to help you feel more confident and prepared.

The Motherhood & Newborn Guide offers helpful information for families celebrating pregnancy, welcoming a new baby, or documenting those fleeting early days of motherhood. The Family Photography Guide helps you prepare for a relaxed, meaningful session that captures your family's connection and personality. And for parents of the Class of 2027 and Class of 2028, the Senior & Graduate Guide is a place to begin planning portraits that reflect your student's individuality, interests, and the exciting chapter ahead.

Each guide is designed to help answer questions, offer inspiration, and make the experience feel a little easier from the very beginning.

Motherhood/Newborn

For maternity, Fresh 48, newborn,
and motherhood sessions

Family

For family, children, milestone,
and connection-focused sessions

Senior/Graduate

For senior portraits, graduates,
and yearbook sessions

Need Help Choosing What to Wear?

One of my favorite additions to these guides is the linked Pinterest styling boards! Choosing clothing for photographs can feel like one more thing on an already-full to-do list, so I wanted to give my clients an easy place to find inspiration.

You'll find curated ideas for family outfits, motherhood and newborn sessions, and senior portraits. Think coordinating colors, beautiful textures, timeless pieces, and wardrobe inspiration that complements the natural, nostalgic style of Rooted Vision Photography without taking away from the people in the photographs.

Use the boards as a starting point, save the ideas you love, and make them your own. Your photographs should still feel like you.

Let's Make Something Worth Remembering

At Rooted Vision Photography, my approach is rooted in connection, genuine emotion, and preserving the little details that become part of your family's story. Whether you're searching for a family photographer in Canton, Michigan, maternity and newborn photography in Southeast Michigan, or senior portraits for your Class of 2027 or 2028 graduate, I want you to feel welcomed and cared for throughout the process.

Your next step is simple: visit my Before Your Session page, choose the guide that fits your season of life, and explore the resources I've gathered for you. When you're ready, I'd love to help you plan a session that feels personal, meaningful, and true to your family.

Because these moments won't stay the same forever, but the memories we make of them can.
